Lads and Dads

Lads & Dads held their initial meeting on Friday 25th January to exchange ideas for future events.

We decided not to restrict membership to our own church family but to invite attendance from all men over the age of 18.

It was decided to hold the meetings on the last Friday of each month with the first event planned for 28th March.  This will be a night of 10-pin bowling (venue to be arranged).

Our meeting on 29th February was a planning evening to arrange a further programme of interesting and exciting events. We welcome all ideas.

For further information talk to Tony Jones, Trevor Eccles or Eddie Blair.

Calling all Musicians.....

Can you play a musical instrument? If so, would you consider becoming part of the Worship team at church? We meet to practise every Tuesday at 7pm and would love to welcome some new instruments and people to our team.

If you would like more information then please feel free to contact me at the Rectory.

Greenisland Realway Adopt a Station Project

THE GREENISLAND REALWAY ADOPT a STATION PROJECT  (GRASP) is really getting going, a portacabin is in place and we are waiting for a second worker to start.  The plan is to have a drop-in centre for teenagers to get involved an easy place to hang out and do projects and courses.  We have seen a lot of interest from local teenagers  and the portacabin remains untouched which is great.  Now we need electricity so please pray for that.  This will be an awesome opportunity for teenagers and it is great to have the support of the police, Northern Ireland Railways, Children in Need and other groups.

Please pray for Arf as he tries to set it up and for an organised support worker to get on board.

Library

Books…Books…Books

We have a well stocked library in church which is not really being used to its full potential! We would love someone with an interest in books to develop its use and encourage church members to read. If you feel you could help out with the library then please to speak to Nicola L.

Badminton

Attendance at the club continues to be extremely good for both the junior and senior groups.  All members from both groups have had the opportunity to take part in several matches this year against local clubs at Glengormley Methodist, St Patrick’s Jordanstown and for the first time Holy Trinity Church in Carrickfergus.

The club has also received a donation of funding from the Carrickfergus Woman’s Forum. We are thrilled to receive this donation and plan to fund some additional coaching and resources for the club.

We plan as usual to end the year with a club tournament. Parents and friends are welcome to come and support their children at the event and enjoy some club supper! .

Details of date and time to follow.

The Brown Trophy will be presented again this year to the winners along with prizes for most improved players.

Hazel and Valerie.

Parking

The Select Vestry would like to draw your attention to a request they made a few months ago. To help welcome visitors and to assist those who’s health doesn’t allow them to walk too far we ask you to park in the rear car park of the church.

Thank you for your consideration and help.

Visitation

At any time if you know of a parishioner who is in hospital, sick at home or who you think would benefit from a pastoral visit then please contact me at the rectory.

Helping and ministering people through difficult and challenging times is a major purpose of our church. As I can only react to the information given to me, your communication at such times is both helpful and needed.

Thank you, Paul.
